Christmas Cards 2009

It always seems to take me forever to decide on a Christmas card design......  My husband picked out the stamp set and I looked at it forever before deciding what to do!!!  Here is what I came up with:

Closed
Open- the brad at the top right made it a "swinging" card- not sure what I want to call it.....  So basically it was 3 Top Notes (made with my Big Shot).  It was actually a lot easier to cut the picture then I thought it would be.....  I took strips of Whisper White and laid them on top of the Top Note Die to cut them.  Of course, a little glitter never hurt anything!!!

These would not of been possible without my friend LeAnn- she came over one morning and stamped all the snowflakes, the greeting, and then put them together with the brad.  Then it took me a week (and a lot of pain, haha) to color all those snowmen in!!!  She looked at the coloring and told me I was crazy and if there was anything else she could do- hahaha!!!

LAST Christmas crafty post!!

This is my last Christmas crafty post.  Not to be confused with my LAST Christmas post- I plan on posting some from our Christmas morning......

This is a swap I did with my group in TN.  We each did a block, sent them in, and BAM- we had an advent calendar to fit on a muffin tin!  My square is on the right side- the blank white one.  I sent my squares in to be swapped, but didn't keep one for myself.  I haven't gotten around to making another one- I know- SLACKER! It really is WOW in real life!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

One last pre-Christmas post picture of the boys!!!!  Ryan made gingerbread men one day at school.  He was bummed because they wouldn't decorate them until the next Friday- the cooking day in class.  I had just received a bag of gingerbread cutouts from my friend Martha as part of a cookie exchange.  So we got home from school, I found some frosting, sprinkles, and M and Ms- the boys went to town!!!  Here they are pointing to their masterpieces.

CLASSES IN THE MAILBOX!!

These are pictures from my last 3 "Class in the Mailbox".  I was ridiculously late with my October class, not too bad with the November one and early with the December one!!  I sent all three classes together.

October's class.  I used the Ski Slope DSP and the little Felt Flurries from the Holiday Mini.  there was an origami box filled with note paper, a mini magazine tote from www.InkingIdaho.com, 2 cards and a small fry box.

 

 

 

 

November's Class.  There were 3 cards, a coaster ornament/tag, and a 2 year planner.  Each planner used a different kind of DSP.

 

 

 

 

December's class.  In this class there were 4 cards and a DVD tin notepad that matched the planner they got for the November's class.

Christmas Card 2008

I always make my Christmas cards- of course- what else would I do???  This is the only time I actually send cards- I make cards, I never send them- curse of the stamper, I guess!!!

FRONT.  I used the door set from the Holiday Mini.  I took the idea from a card I did at my last KISS class.  I did add the Polka Dot BG to the base.  Directions from this type of card can be found under resources at www.splitcoaststampers.com

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BACK.  On the back of the tag with the door, I attached our family's Christmas Photo.  It was amazing how well we matched the color scheme of Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, and Sahara Sand!!!

I am hoping that I don't confuse people too much!!! 

We got the pictures done at Portrait Innovations down in Loveland, CO.  We went the morning of Veteran's Day- I kept Ryan out of school- I can't believe he had school, even a half a day!!!  We spent the day in CO- getting the pictures done, eating at Red Robin, hanging out- it was a good day.  We went to Portrait Innovations last year, after hubby got off work- it was UGLY!!!  The studio was an hour and half behind, we were hungry, and ended up waiting in the van.  I wanted this Christmas background, but that room was busy.  We started on the white background- the first picture taken was the only one that was decent!!!!!!!!

 

Last Class for the Year!!!

I had my last class for 2008 on Thursday, sniff sniff!!  I am excited about the ideas in my head for classes in 2009 though!!!!!  Ellyn came and we had a great time, even though I had "blonde head" for the beginning part!!!!  Never fear I finally got it together!!!  It was nice to have someone over and have a play date!!!

We made a big snowflake like I wrote about yesterday.  Weused the Baha Breeze DSP.  They came out quite nice once Ellyn asked me why the first ones we did didn't "twist" like the one I did for the WSC- DUH- because I told her to do it wrong!!!!This picture came out SO much better!!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

    Ellyn also made 2 of these Cone ornaments and this adorable box to put them in.  The box directions came from www.simpleandsincere.com

Holiday Treasures DSP and the Build a Brad were used for the ornament.

 

 

We also made 2 Glass Ball Ornaments as shown in yesterday's post.  Plus 2 Washer necklaces.  I don't have a picture of the necklaces.  We took large washers from Lowe's and place rub ons around the circle.

And the winner is........

.........  the BIG SNOWFLAKE!!!!! 

The Warren Spouses Club had their December function and one of the activities was a homemade ornament contest.  I had four entries, yes, they now know I am a complete loser!!! We had a great time and a great dinner!!  It was catered by a pizza place here in Cheyenne.  Deployed spouses and their kids were our special guests for an evening out and some grown-up time for the moms.  It was nice to be able to talk with friends, both new and old that night.

Would you like to see pictures of the ornaments I took?  I wish I still had them, but they were donated to become door prizes to members of the WSC.  There seemed to be some happy winners of door prizes!!!

 

 

 

 

 WOW- I didn't realize that picture was so crappy!!!  I hope you can get the idea of it.  I have the directions, but they are on the laptop and hubby is in the middle of a poker game on said laptop....  I believe it was Mary Jo Albright that has a great tutorial on her website on how to make these.  All in all, they are easy to make, some parts are a wee bit time consuming......  I don't think I was drinking when I took this picture.......haha  I used the Ski Slope DSP.

 

This is a Cone Ornament.  I got the directions from www.flowerbug.typepad.com.  She has great directions and an awesome box to make to put the ornament into.  I used the ki Slope DSP on this.

 

Yeah....another crappy picture......looks ok small- I wouldn't make it larger if I were you!!!  I got a 6 pack of clear glass ornaments at Mike's.  I put in the Martha Stewart Mica Flake glitter (it has huge pieces of glitter!!) in the bottom.  I then rolled 3/4 by 6" pieces of Holiday treasures DSP and put them inside the glass ball.  I finished it off with a bow from the Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon.  A very smart woman in Knoxville made these last year- thank you Cele!!

 

This is the small snowflake I did.  I again used the Ski Slope DSP.  I really can't find the directions for this one.  It was made with 3x3 pieces of DSP and only 5 of them, instead of 6....I had a slight accident with one leg.......oops.  It was cute, but it was so much more painful to make then the large one!!!  Ask me how to unglue your fingers!!!

Star light, star bright....

   ........I wish I was being better about updating my blog!!!

 Well, here is something I did awhile ago.  My friends, Ellyn and Martha (with baby Claire) came over and we used Stampin' Up's Star Bright Ornament kit to play a bit.  I got inspiration from JanTink (hanging stars) and another person from SCS who is the one to figure out the Star tree- LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!  I still have to put the finishing touches on the ornaments themselves ie ribbon and silver cord!!!  For $19.95- this is an AWESOME value!!!!

I am ahead.....

So at the moment, I am ahead in making Christmas presents.......  just at the moment.  That will change VERY shortly!!  The first picture is of photo albums I made with my DVD tins. The second and third picture is of notepads.  Some have a pocket inside, but they all have a 2009 calendar- I rock!!  These are addictive!!!   

I'm BAAAACK!!!!!

Seriously, I thought when I did my quick little post, I would totally be back in a day.  Maybe 2......  So, now it's been a week and I am just NOW getting here!  This is so sad!!!  Where the crap have I been, you want to know????  Last Sunday I co-hosted the SHS Open House for Home Based Businesses.  Sunday night I was struck down in my prime with whatever nastiness my 5 year old had, and still has some leftover a week later. 

Monday I was down for the count, totally, completely- Ryan was as well- his first sick day!  Bryson, the 2 almost 3 year old, felt fine and made our Monday miserable.......  I was in bed by 5pm- thank goodness hubby is home!!!!  A week later, I am still not right, Ryan is still not right and Bryson is starting the road to wrongness.  All last week he was teething, this week- still teething and the nastiness is starting.  This all leads me to wonder when hubby is going to be struck down... and we all know how that will go!!

I have projects to share!!!!!  This is from my KISS class last week- before the evilness invaded my house.  We did 5 cards- there were 4 on my camera.......need to go investigate.  The cards were more or less- ok more- of CASES from SCS.

I promise- seriously- that I will not go another week without a post!!!!

       

Upsy Daisy!!!!

 

I have been using my Upsy Daisy set a bit this week......yep- it rocks!!! 

The first picture is of a card front I did for a swap I am in.  I used the Ski Slope DSP- I LOVE this paper!!!  It's a "winter" paper- but I loved how it looked with this card!!!  To stamp the flowers I inked up in Old Olive, then took my chocolate chip marker and dabbed the tops of my flowers.

The next pictures are of my last HOLIDAY STAMP CAMP project!  It's a dry erase board.  My downline, Amy of I'm just Stampin' fame turned me on to these.  They are so cool!!!  It's just a big ol' tile from Lowe's.  On this one I used the Upsy Daisy set in More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, and then Old Olive.  I had a picture of it in my head....don't you just love when the picture in your head comes out the way you want it to????
